LIFE AT LAMBDA CHI
Social Life
A day in the life of a Lambda Chi is never a boring one; while we continuously strive academically and with brotherhood, a big
part of being a Lambda Chi, and being a Hawkeye, is simply enjoying our time here at Iowa.
Almost every week throughout the semester, we pair up with one of the many
sororities here on campus for a planned, and usually themed, social, such as
'Graffiti' Parties, My-Ties, and other fun events.
It's important to Lambda Chis to maintain strong ties with the rest of the Greek
Community, and socials are an easy and fun way to meet new people, a great
excuse to wind down after a stressful few days of class, and something to
definitely look forward to each week.
Aside from socials, we also host a semi-formal in the Fall, hosted in
the Downtown Iowa City area, as well as a two-day get-away Formal every Spring. Formals have
taken place in various locations in the great state of Iowa. |

During Homecoming and Greek Week, Lambda Chis have the privilege to spend time and compete with their
paired sorority, working on skits (Iowa SHOUT! and Greek Week Follies), building Homecoming floats,
competing as a team to win the Greek Week Olympics, and many other planned events for each week. These
times of the year are a really fun and exciting way to hang out with a sorority and meet others in the Greek Community.

Brotherhood
Lambda Chis around the world are known for their strong ties of brotherhood; this is no different at the Iota Chi Zeta.
Throughout the semester, we throw numerous get-togethers called Brotherhoods, which are chances for the
brothers of the chapter to get together and spend time as a group, doing things such as Card Nights, Billiards, going out to dinner,
playing in Intramurals, barbequing, and more.
Last year, the brothers at Lambda Chi went on a trip to Maquoketa Caves in Maquoketa, IA, a two-day excursion of camping, caving, and
having a blast in a completely new environment away from campus. Almost the entire chapter came out for the event for a time that we
hope becomes a great Lambda Chi tradition for years to come. We plan one or two major brotherhoods throughout the school year.
Impromptu brotherhoods include Wing Nights at establishments in Downtown Iowa City, Bags games in the front yard,
and, one that no one can ever forget, the Outback Bowl 2009 in Tampa, FL. Six Lambda Chi brothers and some friends made it down to the
game for a New Years celebration and one last victory for the '08-'09 football team.
